  Over 60 children entered the Cofton in Bloom minature garden competition. All children received a prize for takng part and there were winners in each class.

   All the children had a wonderful afternoon with Phil and Louise, who visited us with their guide dogs Arnie and Simpson.

Creatures

   The ‘really Wild Man came to visit us on tuesday 8th June. He showed us some fascinating creatures. He told us alot about each animal and cleared up lots of our misunderstandings. Did you know that a spider does not have poisonous fangs? and they do not shoot hairs at thier prey?

Class 3 visit to the Church

   We made a visit to St Mary’s Church at Cofton, as part of our work on Belonging, in RE.

River Watch

  Class 2 are finding out about rivers. For one week we are spending 15 minutes every morning observing the River Exe and estuary. We are recording the temperature, weather, tide times, sea state, wildlife and traffic. We are also noticing the difference in the tide over a few days.

Irish food tasting

   Last Friday (4th October), our class learnt about traditional Irish food and drink, thanks to a fantastic, interactive presentation by Imogen. She prepared a selection of tasty treats for the class to enjoy, including some Irish butter and cheeses, soda bread, potato farls and delicious home made barmbrack.

Cockwood explores Colfer

  Again in keeping with our Irish theme, we explored a selection of Irish myths and legends earlier in the term. Each group was given a legend, which they re-wrote in their own words, created story boards for and then acted out for the rest of the class.

Bat boxes

  In keeping with our habitat topic and with the proximity to Halloween, Bryony and Jeremy, parents of a child in class 3, paid a special visit to Class 1 on the 21st of October. Bryony, a wildlife consultant and bat conservationist, brought in some live bats to show our class.
