On Wednesday 20th May 2015, six schools from across the Dawlish Learning Partnership took part in the annual DLP Swimming Gala, held at Dawlish Leisure Centre. Pupils in Class 1 have been practising their 4 and 6 figure grid reference skills this term. This culminated in a treasure hunt challenge following a route around Cockwood Village. The children had a brilliant afternoon. Thanks to Mr McGrath for helping to organise this super geography event!
Class 1 pupils competed against other schools in the area in the annual Rotary Quiz. A super effort on the night and a well earned second place!
Well done to Class 2. Staff, parents and pupils were entertained with songs, readings and videos demonstrating the Class 2 learning for this term. We all loved seeing the video of the pupils in testudo formation! A super assembly!
On Friday 1st May, Ratcliffe School hosted the first Key Stage 2 Boccia Competition to be held within the Dawlish Learning Partnership. The idea was to invite local schools together to learn how to play Boccia and then to have a friendly competition which would involve teams playing against each other in a knockout competition….
On a beautiful Spring afternoon on the Cockwood Village Green, Cockwood Primary School entertained Gatehouse ACE Academy in an 8 overs per side cricket match. Well done to Cofton House for winning the interhouse challenge for this term. The children had to hunt for eggs and match up the different pieces, answer questions in an Easter quiz and complete an art competition. All points won go towards the house total. Pupils came together to learn about the solar eclipse. They watched a live feed on the big screen and refreshed their understanding of the Earth, Sun and Moon. As the action was happening, we were sending tweets to the Stargazer twitter page. Very exciting!
