Supporting the Poppy Appeal

Dawlish Learning Partnership schools visited the new Sainsbury’s store in Dawlish today to show their support for this years Poppy appeal. Staff and children from Cockwood Primary School, Gatehouse Primary School and Oaklands Park School were warmly welcomed by Members of the Royal British Legion.

On Friday 21st September, all of the children at Cockwood primary School took part in an ‘It’s a Knockout’ style sports afternoon. They competed in their House Teams through 4 events.

Children at Cockwood Primary School have once again started our new school year with a Harvest celebration at Cofton Church. Our theme this year was making new words from the letters of HARVEST.

Dick and Dom on da ship!!!!!!

Class 1 were extremely lucky to meet some very unexpected people on their recent trip to the SS Great Britain…. Dick and Dom from CBBC were on board filming a new television series! As you can imagine it created much excitement. The boys were very obliging and came and talked to the children.

Class 1 Science- parachute investigation

September 30, 2012adminClass 1 have been finding out about forces.

Class 1 have been making parachutes, their brief was to make a parachute that would take the longest time to reach the ground. The children worked in small groups to plan their design and think about the factors that would affect its performance. We then tested each parachute three times and timed the flights.

JUNE 2012- Class 3 have been finding out ‘how do we travel to school?’

  Class 3 have been finding out the different ways we travel to school. They all had to think about the different methods of transport we use. Each child drew themselves and their method of transport and they sorted the data to make a class graph.

TV Cameras come to Cockwood

   Everyone at Cockwood Primary was VERY excited to have two film crews in school last week to help us celebrate our achieving ARTSMARK GOLD AWARD. The crews were from Westcountry and Watershed PR. They spent the whole afternoon filming art around the school and interviewing staff and children.
