Everyone at Cockwood Primary was VERY excited to have two film crews in school last week to help us celebrate our achieving ARTSMARK GOLD AWARD.
The crews were from Westcountry and Watershed PR. They spent the whole afternoon filming art around the school and interviewing staff and children.Class 1 were focussing on sketching and painting…What makes Britain great? They were thinking about the images that make us feel proud to be British. Mr Mitchell played rousing classics on the keyboard such as , ‘Land of Hope and Glory’, ‘God Save the Queen’ and ‘Rule Britannia’ to get the children in the right frame of mind and stimulate their artistic talents!
Class 2 were making their sculptures in the style of Barbara Hepworth and following an on-line trail around Barabara Hepworth’s garden on the internet.
Class 3 were finishing their sculptures and then painting them to reflect the colour and moods they felt when they think about their Mums.
It was a busy, unusual and nerve-wracking afternoon but everyone once again rose to the challenge and enjoyed the fame and stardom!!!
One of the reports was on Westcountry News last Wednesday and you can see it on Vimeo here.
