It’s a Knockout at Cockwood!
On Friday 21st September, all of the children at Cockwood primary School took part in an ‘It’s a Knockout’ style sports afternoon. They competed in their House Teams through 4 events.

Children at Cockwood Primary School have once again started our new school year with a Harvest celebration at Cofton Church. Our theme this year was making new words from the letters of HARVEST.
Class 3 delighted a packed village hall with their annual class assembly based on this terms topic ‘Space’. The children sang, read stories and signed as aprt of their performance.
Cockwood School have been delighted to be involved in the Olympic banner project at Exeter Cathedral. The banners are to celebrate the Olympic torch arriving in Exeter this week. Class 2 and class 3 spent a ‘wet” day following the Sculpture Trail around the grounds of the Streatham Campus of Exeter University. The rain didnt dampen our spirits and all the children enjoyed sketching and photogrpahing some of the fantastic sculptures on show.
Class 2 and 3 are looking at ‘Sculpture’ in Art this term. Class 3 have been finding out about ‘What is a sculpture?’ and experimenting making sculptures with play dough, plasticine and junk modelling.
Children from class 3 have been busy helping to plant up hanging baskets to decorate the school grounds. A few budding Percy Throwers in the making!
Class 2 and class 3 at Cockwood Primary got into the Easter spirit during the last day of the Spring term.
Class 3 children sung and danced and retold many traditional stories to a large audience. They enjoyed making puppets and growing seeds aswell as many other tactivites connected with traditional stories, such as ‘The 3 Little Pigs’ and ‘The Ugly Duckling’.
The ‘really Wild Man came to visit us on tuesday 8th June. He showed us some fascinating creatures. He told us alot about each animal and cleared up lots of our misunderstandings. Did you know that a spider does not have poisonous fangs? and they do not shoot hairs at thier prey?
