As is our Cockwood tradition, the Year 6 pupils and Staff Team performed for 220 people at the Langstone Cliff Hotel to celebrate the achievements of the past year and to say goodbye to our oldest children. Pupils in Year’s 2 – 5 enjoyed a performance of ‘A little princess’ by a theatre group. One child said ‘It’s the best day of my life!’ Clearly it was very well received. We are looking forward to the group returning to perform Jack and the beanstalk in January.
The whole school have spent the week exploring our local area and working with Martin Prothero to produce some sound recordings of the River Exe. These will then feature on an interactive display for Exmoor National Park. The children enjoyed the day completing art work and science based activities on Dawlish Warren beach.

A huge well done must go to our children who entered the swimming gala this year. The pupils from Class 1 raced against other children from schools in the local learning community and achieved 3rd place. A great achievement from the team.
The pupils enjoyed a super session at La Tasca. The children tasted food, watched a cookery lesson and practised some Spanish. Some pupils also had the opportunity to dress up in traditional Spanish clothing.
Children at Cockwood Primary have been taking part in a memories project. They devoted an entire day to making collages through the decades of school memories. The children were given a homework task of interviewing at least 3 people in their household, family or friends about their own school memories.
Class 1 visited the Exeter synagogue. Mr. Boam kindly showed us round. We saw many important features including The Ark containing the Torah scrolls, the Ner Tamid (everlasting light) and the bimah (Platform where the scrolls are read). On Friday 21st September, all of the children at Cockwood primary School took part in an ‘It’s a Knockout’ style sports afternoon. They competed in their House Teams through 4 events.
