The whole school enjoyed a lovely Harvest Festival celebration at St. Mary’s Church, Cofton. Each class made a super contribution with Class 1 delivering some first class readings! Pupils in Class 1 had a brilliant day learning about life in Elizabethan times when they visited Montacute House. Great Britain’s Paralympic goalkeeper Dan James visited Cockwood School last week and led the children through a circuit of exercise, teaching them the importance of fitness and persevering to achieve goals. A great afternoon and a fantastic way to exercise! It was amazing to learn about Dan’s achievements at the Paralympics – a real inspiration.
On Thursday the children in Class 3 were visited by an old friend… Sally! She came in to talk to the children about her childhood toys, her time at school and the games she used to play. In Class 3 we are looking at toys from the past, starting with toys from within living memory….
We held our annual show this week. Once again the acts were varied and very entertaining, enjoyed by the judges and the audience alike! The talent was outstanding and the comments from our judges Aisha Flewin and Simon Cruel were very encouraging!
This week the young musicians of Cockwood School displayed their wonderful talents in our annual Music Showcase. Pupils spent the day looking at road safety. They met with Rob Harvey, a member of the local police and Dave Leggett, a Cockwood resident, to explore how to keep ourselves safe around the school site. The children monitored parking before school and asked lots of very important questions in the assembly.
The school enjoyed a super Sports Day on the village green. As always, the event was well attended and the children competed against each other with huge levels of enthusiasm. Well done to Powderham House for winning on the day.
