On Friday 21st September, all of the children at Cockwood primary School took part in an ‘It’s a Knockout’ style sports afternoon. They competed in their House Teams through 4 events.
Children at Cockwood Primary School have once again started our new school year with a Harvest celebration at Cofton Church. Our theme this year was making new words from the letters of HARVEST.
Class 1 and 2 enjoyed a fabulous two days at Escot Park, near Ottery St Mary. The children slept in yurts, cooked and ate outside…even showered in the outdoor washing facilities! They all experienced a day as a Saxon in the Saxon village. They were able to work with a blacksmith, grind grain, make…
The year 2s have been finding out about nocturnal animals and night-time. We were lucky to have Billie the bat lady in to show the children some bats and talk about her role protecting and looking after injured bats.
Class 2 and class 3 spent a ‘wet” day following the Sculpture Trail around the grounds of the Streatham Campus of Exeter University. The rain didnt dampen our spirits and all the children enjoyed sketching and photogrpahing some of the fantastic sculptures on show.
Class 2 and 3 are looking at ‘Sculpture’ in Art this term. Class 3 have been finding out about ‘What is a sculpture?’ and experimenting making sculptures with play dough, plasticine and junk modelling.
The children had a brilliant time playing in Mrs Taylor’s garden. They enjoyed a super supper of hot dogs, strawberries and ice-cream and crisps. The children watched the sun go down over the estuary before walking up to the woods to look for bats.
Class 2 enjoyed their day walking around the grounds of Exeter University in the pouring rain! They also saw another art form…the wonderful painted ceiling in The Old Chapel. The children laid down in the aisle to appreciate the intricacy of the symmetry, when asked how the ceiling and the colours made them feel…
