Cockwood explores Colfer

February 3, 2012eightyone

Colfer Colfer

Again in keeping with our Irish theme, we explored a selection of Irish myths and legends earlier in the term. Each group was given a legend, which they re-wrote in their own words, created story boards for and then acted out for the rest of the class. In poetry, we created some personification poems inspired by Irish objects. More recently, we have also been exploring the works of famous Irish author, Eoin Colfer, who is best known for his Artemis Fowl books. Our class have been reading a wide selection of his work and exploring his writing style. We worked in groups to research his life and books and then created powerpoints and posters, which we presented to the class. I was most impressed with the quality of the presentations, well done class 1!

This week we were focusing on dialogue and groups wrote and performed play scripts for new scenes for our class novel. Next week, we will each be writing our own story inspired by Colfer’s work and I can’t wait to read them all!
