The whole school enjoyed a trip to St Mary’s Churchyard to take part in the nationwide nature survey for “God’s Acre”. Class 1 children mapped the area and noted any species of particular interest: We found lots of wild strawberries, ramsons (more commonly known as wild garlic) and red campion. Class 2 completed a “Sketching Scavenger Hunt”. We had lots of fun spotting bat boxes and hedgehog houses. Class 3 (our youngest pupils) took part in a Colour Challenge – they had to find things in the churchyard that exactly matched the colours they had been given – some of them were very tricky!
Thank you to St Mary’s Church for welcoming us and telling us all about the nature in the churchyard. The weather was lovely and the whole school had a super day.
