Last week, Year 6 were able to go to Plymouth’s wonderful Theatre Royal to watch a special ‘compact’ and child- friendly version of the world famous opera, La Traviata.
This was performed by the Welsh National Opera, and had a run time of 70 mins, as opposed to the original 2hrs 45 mins. After each scene, a narrator explained what had just happened, and told the children about what the next scene and song would be about. Above the stage, ‘surtitles’ were running, meaning the children were able to read the lyrics in English whilst they were being sung.
The children were able to sit in the second row, and had a super time experiencing something completely new! It was such a lovely opportunity being able to take our children to something so rare. Thank you to the Welsh National Opera for funding this trip, our pupils loved it.
