We all enjoyed a fabulous day celebrating books and stories, including the opening of our new library. Every child had the chance to go and explore our new reading space and learn how to use our library system to scan and borrow books. We welcomed the Dawlish Mayor, Councillor Rosie Dawson and Councillor Martin Wrigley, who donated a range of books on behalf of Dawlsih Town Council, to mark International Women’s Day.
New librarians were appointed to support our younger readers in selecting and returning books and they will ‘man’ the library at the start of every day.In class, pupils carried out a range of activities to introduce them to new books and authors; there was a treasure hunt using QR codes, a book cover quiz, the sharing of favourite books and a masked reader challenge! The School Council ran a ‘bring and swap’ book sale throughout the day and every child had the chance to choose a World Book Day title to take home with them.
