We love reading!

November 8, 2013Jo Hussain

We have asked children to write reviews that will encourage other children to read.

These reviews include Kensuke’s Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo and The Abominables by Eva Ibbotson.

See what you think at leave your comments.

If you see a book that you would like to buy, please help us to raise essential funds that directly support your childs learning by shopping online from our easyfundraising store using the link below. You won’t spend any more than going to the retailer’s website directly. Just click on the easy fundraising link below and enter the name of the book to search lots of retailers at one go.

‘Kensuke’s Kingdom’ by Michael Morpurgo.

This is a story about a family that tours the world in a yacht because the Father has lost his job.

They sell all of their possessions and buy a beautiful boat called the Peggy Sue and they have a great time. But it doesn’t last long because after a wild storm Michael’s dog Stella Artois goes to the bow of the boat without a safety harness and falls overboard. Michael tries to save him but falls in as well. The story is about his life after he gets washed up on a mysterious island and meets Kensuke….

The book is full of adventure and emotion. I would recommend that you read this book because once you start reading it you want to read more and more because most chapters end in a cliff hanger.

I think the way Michael Morpurgo writes the book is very clever and he is one of my favourite authors.

‘The Abominables’ by Eva Ibbotson.

Do you want a book that you can’t put down?

Do you want to read a book that made my mum cry?

Do you want to read a book full of adventure and mystery?

Then this is the book for you. In the deepest part of Nanvi Dar a small girl was kidnapped by an abominable Yeti which changed her life. This story is about the Yetis and how on the night they kidnapped the small girl their life changed too.

This story also has lots of characters, one of these is a Yak called Herbert that will have you laughing tears of joy. This tiny little Yak digs lots of Herbert holes and towards the end of the story he finally finds the thing that he’s been looking for …… In Spain Herbert finds his Dad which turns out to be El Magnifico! But is this the thing that he has been looking for?

Does this book grip you to the end?

Will you read non-stop until your eyes close?

Will you be amazed at how good this book is?

All of those questions I can answer in five simple words – Yes, Yes and Yes again!

Lily, Cockwood Primary School.

If you want to help us even more you can shop for anything from hundreds of major stores as well as Amazon and ebay. Thank you.
