The concert, themed ‘Sea Stories’, exposed our young learners to a diverse range of musical genres, from the classical compositions of Tchaikovsky to the modern melodies of Moana. Our pupils were delighted to recognise familiar tunes from ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ and eagerly participated in a song using body percussion, which they had diligently practised beforehand.
What made this experience truly special was its inclusivity. The storyteller used Makaton signing throughout the performance, ensuring it was accessible to all. Our pupils enthusiastically joined in, demonstrating their own Makaton skills.
This high-quality experience has undoubtedly broadened our pupils’ musical horizons, introducing them to a world of music beyond their everyday encounters. It’s moments like these that make me incredibly proud of the rich, diverse learning opportunities we provide at Cockwood Primary.
The joy and engagement our pupils displayed during this concert reaffirms our commitment to delivering exceptional experiences that nurture their cultural awareness and appreciation for the arts and as an Artsmark Gold School we constantly strive to give every child the opportunity to attend such events.
