Kevin the Viking came to visit Class 2 today. He told us about everyday Viking life, their beliefs and traditions and showed us some important Viking weapons and battle clothing. He invited us to become Norse men and women by handling and trying on real Viking weapons, helmets and clothing.
Later in the afternoon, we set up a realistic model of a Viking longboat and Kevin explained how they worked, who was responsible for each job onboard and why they were designed in the way they were. We finished the afternoon by playing a traditional Viking game, which was extremely tricky!
It was an amazing afternoon where we really felt we had travelled back in time to experience the history of the vicious Vikings first hand.
