We were delighted to be involved in The Ivy Education Trust Youth Parliament yesterday at Teignmouth Community School, Exeter Road. The event brought together both primary and secondary school pupils to propose and debate a wide range of issues. Each school put forward a topic for discussion and had 5 minutes to present their side of the argument before the other pupils could debate their opposing views. Mrs Roper was the Speaker for the first round and then we had willing volunteers running the subsequent debates.
The event is the first of its kind for our cluster of schools, however, we plan to make this an annual event and invite more local schools next year. It was very successful and fabulous to see the confidence and quality of the discussions improve throughout the afternoon. Well done to all those who volunteered to attend.
