A huge thank you goes to Sainsburys in Dawlish and our school PFA. Sainsburys have donated the funds to help purchase two new ipads for the school and we were joined by the manager and other key staff for the presentation. We will put these to good use!

New Scooters
Another purchase from the Sainsbury’s vouchers was a set of 4 scooters, which will be used in active outdoor play by the
Foundation children. However, they arrived without assembly instructions, so an enthusiastic team of Class 1 pupils took on the
challenge of putting them together. Through lots of perseverance and team work (and a couple of timely interventions from Mrs Watts!), they soon had them assembled and ready to go. The children in Foundation would like to say a big THANK YOU to these children, and invite you to come for a well deserved spin with us soon! The scooters will support our youngest children in developing their balance, coordination and spacial awareness, and they have already been brilliant at taking
turns with each other, and sharing the scooters.
In The Dark Tent
Last year we were able to purchase a dark tent, amongst other things, using the Sainsbury’s vouchers you sent into school. As
part of our Space topic, Class 3 have been exploring darkness, light sources and reflective materials. The tent has been a popular
addition to our room, and has enabled the children to really explore light and dark through independent investigations and lots of super talking.
Our very youngest children have been able to ask questions, and to experience and share their learning in a really exciting way.
“Look! When I shine the torch on the mirror, light bounces onto the tent!”
Koby, age 4
“Light is bouncing off all the shiny things. Are all silver things shiny?”
Harry, age 5
“That’s a reflector. I’ve got those on my bike. Look what happens when you shine the light on it!
Ozzy, age 5
