As part of our topic on “States of matter” we were lucky enough to link up with one of the secondary schools in our trust. Mrs Taylor and Dr Chapman-Greig visited us from Teignmouth Community School. We explored the density of fresh water vs salt water, we investigated what happens to gases under pressure and we explored the strange properties of a non-Newtonian liquid. The whole class loved taking part in some exciting, practical (and messy!) Science. The children learnt a lot from this lesson and they thought about how the particles in these different states of matter interacted to cause the unusual effects.
