The children at Cockwood had a super time at their recent Taiko drumming workshop, where the children had a wonderful time playing big Japanese drums and learning new rhythms.
Hannah- Jasmine from Taiko Journey came in for the day and conducted exciting workshops for children in Years 2-6 in the Village Hall. All children had a chance to play the drums, learning the special way to hold the sticks and hit the drum, as well as new rhythm patterns and Japanese phrases.
The children had an amazing day, and commented on how much fun they had. Many couldn’t believe how tiring it was, lifting their arms up high for every strike! It was truly an experience we won’t forget, with lots of children asking for another workshop next year!
A big thank you to The Helen Foundation for supporting us in funding this workshop. Please go to their website to see the work they do in supporting schools with creative ventures. A big thank you to the school PFA who also supported the school in funding this.
