Primary Sports Football Tournament

June 12, 2015Jo Hussain

On Wednesday 10th June Gatehouse ACE Academy entertained Cockwood Primary School in a girls followed by a boys, 5 a side match.

The girls game started at a frantic pace with both teams trying to attack at every opportunity. Gatehouse scored half way through the first half with a well taken goal, the score remained 1-0 at half time. As the second half wore on Cockwood started to create more and more chances with the Gatehouse goalkeeper making several fantastic saves. However, with 5 minutes to go Cockwood won a penalty and equalised to deservedly draw the game 1-1. Well done to all girls involved who all tried really hard and there was some great skills shown.

The boys game started with Gatehouse scoring 2 goals to race into an early lead. Just when it looked like Gatehouse were going to go in 2 goals at half time, Cockwood scored to make the half time score 2-1. In the second half the Gatehouse boys started to pass the ball more and make the correct decisions which they are capable of and started to overpower the visitors. This led to Gatehouse scoring 6 times within the next 10 minutes. However Cockwood kept going to the end and managed to score 2 late goals. Well done to both team who tried to play passing football and especially to the Gatehouse team who were all comfortable in possession and scored some lovely goals.
