Intent
Forest School is a unique way of learning and provides invaluable opportunities for children to experience and learn about the natural environment. It gives them the chance to handle risks and most importantly use their own initiative to solve problems and work cooperatively with others. We want our pupils to build resilience and persevere when embracing new skills. Forest School should give children time for reflection and promote a sense of well-being by connecting with nature. We want them to enjoy being ‘children’, playing in the meadow, paddling in the stream, getting muddy and embracing all weather conditions.
Forest School provides a perfect classroom for those children who find school tricky, it helps to build confidence and self-esteem along with a range of both physical and social skills. It encourages participation and inspires an innate curiosity for learning.
