Our Year 1 pupils have been exploring a fascinating piece of historical heritage through their study of Grace Darling, the courageous lighthouse keeper’s daughter who heroically helped rescue survivors from the wrecked steamship Forfarshire in 1838.
As part of their immersive learning, the pupils crafted their own lighthouses, gaining a deep understanding of how these important maritime structures continue to guide and protect sailors, preventing potential maritime disasters. Our youngest learners in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) have also been incredibly creative, constructing a large-scale lighthouse using junk modelling materials, bringing this historical narrative to life through hands-on learning.
