Class 2 had a fabulous Geography field study trip to Bellever on Dartmoor to study the East Dart River. Children practised their map reading skills, drew field sketches, and measured the flow of the river alongside creating a river transect.
The weather was kind and stayed dry, although a little chilly. Pupils were really sensible by the water, and their behaviour was excellent – they were enthusiastic and thoroughly engaged with the learning. Previously, they had looked at maps to trace the journey of the river and had been down to the harbour at Cockwood to see the River Exe, to compare.
Mrs Brewer has really brought the learning to life during this topic, and we are also very grateful to the adults who supported on this trip to ensure our children stayed safe. Our school’s values of happiness, ambition, perseverance, reflection, respect, and creativity were all on display during this engaging and enriching field study.
