Class 2 enjoyed a jam packed couple of days at The Manor House Hotel near Okehampton.
The minute we stepped off the coach we were welcomed by the lovely staff and we were whisked off to our first workshop, Street Dance. The children (and a few staff) learnt a street dance routine to a funked up version of the National Anthem, tying in nicely with the World Cup and there were a few football moves in there to bring it all together. Everyone agreed that they were exhausted so a welcome spot of lunch went down very well.
Next up was the climbing wall and laser archery, Mr Fenton and Miss Chalk were not at all competitive at the laser archery and everyone gave it their best shot to stay on the climbing wall for as long as possible which was no mean feat!
Then it was time for us to check in and get a first glance of our rooms for the night, we didn’t get much more than glance though as before we knew it it was time for tennis and 5-a-side football. After a couple of tense matches and a good few fun team games we were almost on our last legs so thankfully it was time for us to refill our bellies and up our energy levels.
Once we had all eaten our fill it was off for a quick go at ten pin bowling before getting pyjamas on and heading down to the cinema room. Everyone enjoyed a bit of well earned chill time watching Ferdinand and eating popcorn. It would be fair to say everyone was pretty shattered and when it was time for lights out there was not a peep to be heard until morning!
We were ready to roll again next morning and after even more delicious food we packed up our rooms before heading for a lesson in ice curling. We split into teams of 3 and each team played a match against one another across the ice rink. Once the points were added up, a semi final and final match were played and the winners were declared. It was great fun and a new skill was learnt by everyone! The fun did not stop there though as we piled next door to the roller disco rink. With the music blaring, everyone got padded up and pulled on their roller skates. It was unanimously agreed it was the best and most exhausting way to end a brilliant couple of days.
We could not have wished for more, from the amazing activities, to the gorgeous weather, to the impeccable behaviour of all the children. A fantastic time was had by all!
