This week, Class 2 walked to Cofton Church to take part in a pretend baptism of our ‘baby’, Charlotte Rose. We have been learning all about Christianity and the importance of baptism in this religion, and what better way to learn about this than to take part in one!
Helen from Cofton Church led the service, firstly by donning her ceremonial clothes, and then by calling up the mother, father and sets of godparents for the Class 2 baby. She then began the service, explaining all the different elements, why they are important and what they mean to Christians.
The children joined in singing a hymn, and saying the ceremonial ‘we will’ as the congregation. It was a really lovely afternoon, and the children learned so much about baptism through this ‘hands on’ learning. A huge thank you to Helen and the church for welcoming us and for providing such a lovely experience for the children.
