What an exciting week it has been for our Class 2 pupils! They have been busy becoming ‘Environmental Citizens’ of the future through a fantastic workshop that has truly captured their imagination and enthusiasm.
We were delighted to welcome a representative from Sawmills Solar Farm who brought solar energy to life for our pupils in the most engaging way. The hands-on learning was incredible to witness – pupils were making their own circuits using LED bulbs and buzzers, with some tackling the challenge of getting motors to work using small solar packs. The classroom was buzzing with activity as they moved around testing their circuits with both natural light from the windows and artificial light from specially set up lamps and torches.
Every single child was thoroughly engaged throughout this interactive session, and the discussions it sparked about renewable energy were absolutely fantastic. It’s wonderful to see our pupils thinking so deeply about such important environmental topics and really understanding how renewable energy works in practice.
This workshop has been perfect preparation for their upcoming site visit to the solar farm next week. Well done Class 2 – we can’t wait to hear all about your trip to the farm!
