What a joy it has been to witness Class 1 diving into their learning about air resistance and gravity. The pupils have been absolutely engaged in some wonderfully hands-on exploration, designing and building parachutes of different sizes to test their theories about how drag affects the speed of a falling object.
Each child carefully attached a weight—their payload—to their parachute creation and set about testing whether the size of the parachute really does impact how long it takes to fall. The energy and curiosity in the classroom was infectious as they watched their designs in action, comparing results and discovering the science firsthand rather than simply reading about it in a textbook.
This is learning at its very best—practical, investigative, and deeply engaging. Our pupils are developing not just scientific knowledge, but also the critical thinking skills that will serve them so well as they progress through their education.
