Our pupils absolutely threw themselves into being ‘farmers for a week’, embracing each day with remarkable enthusiasm. They explored different values including curiosity, collaboration, resilience and stewardship whilst tackling a fantastic range of farm tasks. From feeding animals and collecting eggs to grooming the equines, mucking out, tending to the cows, gardening, cooking, harvesting and weeding – they experienced it all!
We became part of the Nethercott team, with everyone doing their bit to keep the farm running successfully. It was certainly hard work, with early starts just after 7am every day, whatever the weather! The physical demands of the tasks kept our pupils wonderfully engaged, whilst the amazing food and welcoming staff made it such a wholesome experience.
The pupils even had the special opportunity to walk into the village and see the clock and painting from the film War Horse – what a magical connection to make! Please do look out for the lovely comments our children wrote in the visitors’ book.
