Class 1 have just returned from an amazing three day fun-packed residential to London. They visited: Harry Potter World, the Tower of London, Houses of Parliament, Legoland and also went to see Aladdin in the West End.
Class 1 have been studying ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’ so everyone really enjoyed walking through 4, Privet Drive and seeing the flying motorbike. All the children wore a cloak and took a ride on a broomstick, they also had a lesson in how to use a magic wand!
At the Tower of London, children enjoyed finding out all about Henry VIII during an informative workshop with William Parr, in full Tudor costume. They visited the execution site and saw Traitors Gate. After a quick lunch, we headed to parliament. Everyone was really excited to sit in the gallery and listen to debates in both the Houses of Commons and the House of Lords. Both were discussing issues regarding Brexit and the children found the experience fascinating. They then had a workshop on elections and how political parties get into power. We had some interesting candidates and manifestos!
Pre-show dinner was in the West End at Pizza Express, after that we went straight into the Prince Edward Theatre to find our seats, in the dress circle, ready for Aladdin. The show was fantastic and everyone particularly loved the genie and the ice-creams in the interval!
On the way home we went to Legoland for a fun-filled day of water rides and excitement. We were first on the log flume and after many rides the children were soaked…luckily in the hot weather they were dry within a few hours. Children also enjoyed the swing boat, play-park and roller-coasters. After a picnic lunch and visit to the shop a very tired Class 1 (and teachers!!!) headed back to the coach for the journey home.
A SUPER trip and an amazing experience for everyone who went. The children were a credit to the school and everyone commented on their excellent behaviour and manners.
