Class 1 embarked on a remarkable educational journey to the Bovington Tank Museum in Dorset, which has truly brought their World War 2 topic to life.
During their visit, our pupils experienced an immersive exploration of 1940s life. They stepped back in time, visiting a meticulously recreated 1940s house and corner shop, gaining a profound understanding of daily life during wartime. The pupils learned about rationing and discovered just how labour-intensive household chores were during this challenging period.
One of the most impactful moments was their experience in an Anderson Shelter. During a simulated air raid, they huddled together, experiencing the cramped conditions that families endured during the war. This hands-on experience provided our pupils with a tangible connection to historical events, helping them truly comprehend the realities of that time.
The day also included an exploration of World War 1 trenches and an opportunity to examine tanks from various conflicts. The immersive nature of this trip has clearly inspired our pupils, who are now thoroughly engaged with the topic.
We are eagerly anticipating their upcoming assembly after half term, where they will showcase the knowledge and insights they’ve gained from this extraordinary learning experience.
