Class 1 visited Bovington Tank Museum in Dorset last week linked to their topic of World War 2. The children took part in two informative workshops and they learnt about the various roles people had in Britain during the war; they dressed up as Air Raid Wardens, Women’s Land Army and the Home Guard. Pupils also visited a 1940’s grocery store and learnt about rations and how the country had to ‘Dig for Victory’ to ensure there was enough food to eat. After that, they visited a 1940s house and learnt about how different life would have been for women and children throughout the war compared to today. Once we had been immersed in World War 2, the children also visited the WW1 trenches and were able to go inside a range of tanks. It was a fabulous day and the children were very enthusiastic when they returned to school to write about their experiences and share their learning.
