What a wonderful afternoon Class 1 had on the field this week! Mr Baxter led a fantastic athletics session as part of our Impact sessions provided by the Ivy Education Trust, and it was brilliant to see our pupils throwing themselves into such a diverse range of activities.
The children had the opportunity to try javelin, long jump, distance running, hurdles and relay – quite an impressive spread of athletic challenges! It was particularly exciting knowing that these sessions are helping our pupils prepare for the upcoming Ivy Olympics in July, alongside our own sports day preparations.
What truly stood out was watching our pupils make the most of being down on the field. Their enthusiasm was infectious, and their sportsmanship was absolutely fantastic throughout the entire afternoon. The way they encouraged and supported each other, showing such wonderful support for their classmates, really demonstrated the values we hold dear at Cockwood Primary School.
These moments remind us why physical activity and sport play such an important role in our pupils’ development – not just physically, but in building character and community spirit too.
