What a joy it has been getting to know our new EYFS children over these first weeks. They have all settled really well into life at Cockwood School, and it’s wonderful to see them embracing everything we have to offer.
The children have been enjoying a wide range of activities, and we’ve been fortunate with the weather, which has meant plenty of time outdoors learning through play. This is such a special time in their school journey. They’ve been exploring The Leaf Thief, linking their learning to the changing seasons and discovering all about Autumn. There’s been lots of fun sorting conkers and playing together, whilst also beginning to learn the routines that help our school run smoothly.
Of course, a key part of starting school is beginning their reading journey, and we are delighted to report that all our new pupils are engaging really well with daily phonics. It’s exciting to see them taking those first steps with such enthusiasm.
We want to take this opportunity to celebrate our newest pupils. You already feel like such a part of the Cockwood family, and we’re so proud of how you’ve settled in. Here’s to many more wonderful weeks ahead!
