Last Thursday’s music assembly was truly special. We were delighted to welcome Aquara Bidder, Head of Performing Arts at Teignmouth Community School and an experienced concert and event harpist. Aquara delivered an engaging performance that introduced our pupils to live music, shared fascinating information about the harp, and told us all about the wonderful opportunities available through the TCS Music Academy.
The academy runs inclusive after-school music clubs for local primary pupils in Years 4–6, offering fun, welcoming and affordable sessions. Whether your child has previous musical experience or is picking up an instrument for the very first time, there’s a place for them. Instruments are provided during sessions, so there’s no barrier to getting started. The focus is on developing confidence, making friends and performing as part of an ensemble, with a real commitment to making music accessible to all children, regardless of their background.
Our pupils were absolutely fascinated by the performance, and the calm, engaged atmosphere that filled the hall was wonderful to see. It’s through opportunities like these that we can broaden our pupils’ horizons and introduce them to truly unusual and inspiring instruments. If your child is interested in exploring music-making further, do encourage them to find out more about the TCS Music Academy.
