We are delighted to share what Class 2 have been creating in their recent Art unit on Fashion Designing. The pupils explored how different designers bring their own identity to their work, investigating designers like Vivienne Westwood and her influential role in the punk movement. They discovered how she juxtaposed unexpected elements like tartan with outlandish designs to create something truly distinctive.
After researching and sketching their ideas, pupils translated their 2D designs into 3D creations by dressing a mannequin in an outfit that reflected their own identity, likes and interests. The variety of styles and adaptations was impressive, and what struck us most was how thoughtfully pupils made their choices. They were able to articulate exactly why they’d selected certain colours and items of clothing, demonstrating real understanding of design as a form of personal expression.
It’s wonderful to see our pupils engaging so creatively with their learning.
